Yay! It's football season! (Not for the obvious reason)

Hooray! Football season is finally upon us. I am not into football, though. Sound contradictory? Allow me to explain. I am a busy wife, entrepreneur, and mother of two children, age 7 almost 8 and 18 months old. As any of you parents can relate, I do not have much time to myself. Sure, I get those fragmented moments. With all the daily responsibilities and a sometimes debilitating condition, my passion for creativity gets pushed back. That is why I am so excited... my husband has agreed to take my son with him to my mother-in-law's for Sunday football. He gets to watch the game, the grandparents get precious grandchild time, and I get to feed my soul by immersing myself and my daughter in arts/crafts. . This is what we call a win-win-win.

So, after they left this morning, I was able to take shower without worrying about the clock. Generally I set the timer for either 5 or 10 minutes. I do this for several reasons including water conservation and time management. I have found that 10 minutes is ample enough time to cleanse, contemplate, and soak up (pun intended) a few sacred moments of solitude. Anyway, afterward I decided to treat myself to lunch.

As I was gathering my things, I was appreciative that everything I needed could fit in my clutch. I like packing lightly. It was a nice break from ensuring that I have packed supplies for 2-4 people. Although, now that my son is older, I can travel much lighter. Most of the time I don't even bring another outfit for him, just diapers and wipes. My daughter is old enough to pack her own bag if necessary. I love watching how independent they are both becoming.

After I was served my lunch, I took a seat outside. I was enjoying the outdoor atmosphere. My thoughts were freely flowing and I was thinking of my next craft idea. A couple momentarily derailed that train when they sat at the table across the concrete. I was lost in a world of pure imagination. I started to take another bite of food when I heard, "Quack!" I thought that was odd and that it sounded like a duck. Thinking I misheard, the man at the table commented about it being a duck. The restaurant is in a fairly urban setting and there is no water immediately surrounding the shopping plaza. I decided to throw a few bites to our lunch time visitor. Seeing the duck allowed me to reconnect to nature on a deeper level. We are all forces of nature.

After lunch I took a leisurely stroll around Michael's.I love this store!! It is one of my favorite stores. Every time I go in, I am inundated with creative ideas. It is almost too much to handle. As inspiration inevitably hits, I am prepared with my phone's notepad. This is one of my favorite functions of phones. My short term memory is not the greatest. I joke that once it converts to long term, we are good. So, my Dory brain can use all the help it can get. Except, I am really good at names and faces. It's funny that I usually only visit one side of Michael's. I am drawn to the more DIY, idea side. I find in my local store that this is on the left. The right side tends to have more commercial products. I only went in for a few things and found them rather quickly. I really have to pay attention to my list for sake of abandoning it. You never know what the next aisle will bring. All in all, my trip was quick and easy.

Now I sit here blogging before I start my own crafting party. The point of all this was to remind you to take a break and focus on what you love. What you love lights you up and reignites your entire being. You are much better if you allow yourself some time. It doesn't have to be a lot, maybe even just 10 minutes. What is your bliss? I would love to connect. Thanks for reading!
